I take a lot of notes. They’re how I make sense of things: how I approach a proposal, a book, a voting choice, a medical issue, a film I can’t stop thinking about.

Fieldnotes is where these notes come out into the open. I’m Jennifer Halbert, a storyteller and grant writer who helps mission-driven organizations turn good ideas into funded, well-told work. Here you’ll find my notes on topics big and small, with the occasional deep dive into a research paper that’s worth a closer look.

The thread running through it all is a belief that strong work starts with paying attention, and that the best way to make a case for something is to tell its story well.
